Blurb: 'Sydney Sage is an Alchemist - she protects vampire secrets - and human lives.
In the aftermath of a forbidden moment that rocked Sydney to her core, she is struggling to decide between following her Alchemist teachings - or her heart.
Then she meets alluring, rebellious Marcus Finch, a former Alchemist who is now on the run. Marcus wants to teach Sydney the secrets he claims the Alchemists are hiding from her. But as he pushes her to rebel against the people who raised her, Sydney finds that breaking free is harder than she thought.
There is an old and mysterious magic rooted deeply within her. And as she searches for the person attacking powerful young witches, she realizes that her only hope is to embrace her magical blood - or else she might be next.'

Plot: Like the last two books the plot really picks up in the second half of the book, unlike the last two novels it had great scenes in the first half as well! We start the novel at Sonya and Mikhail's wedding where we catch a glimpse of the VA main characters; Rose, Dimitri, Lissa and Christian. Squee! After that we have an evil witch and an ex-alchemist to deal with so we're kept plenty busy. Sydney does more magic in this book than ever before and Adrian is also more protective of her (maybe because of this magic). Ms Terwillinger(Sp?) puts Sydney into danger. Dope. Adrian gets her out of it (ish).
Likes: HARDLY ANY JILL! LOTS OF SYDRIAN :') Adrian becomes Sydney's partner in crime in this book and is with her in like EVERY scene. Oh I love him. Whoops that slipped out. He's back to his good old self in this book with sarcastic comments and general brilliant-ness. I didn't one hundred per cent believe that it was the 'real' Adrian in the last two books but he's as good as in VA in this book. Girls, you'll be swooning in no time. I love that Sydney is a lot more rebellious in this book even going as far as I love that she actually eats in this book. PIE! And that she isn't as weight-conscious as the first two books. She even allowed herself to put on weight! Score for us average sized girls! Adrian really betters her. Sigh.. Adrian. Also I want a Callistana. You'll know what it is when you read the book.
Dislikes: Sydney and Marcus. Just get rid of him and go with Adrian kay? I hate the way Sydney has denied her attraction to Adrian for the past three books. Can't wait to see what happens in Fiery Heart (Book #4) :D
Verdict: It's very very very good. Best book of the series. Go read it! Can't wait for November for the next book. 9.5/10
Until next time x
