Plot: The plot of this book was so epically action-packed that I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning to finish it. And I don't give up sleep lightly. Each chapter has a new twist and setting. Each page, Alex violently injuring a new person. I LOVED IT.
Likes: For those of you who read my review of Half-Blood(Book 1) (Click for link) you know that I wasn't a fan of the book. I just thought that there were too many similarities between the Vampire Academy series and the first novel of the Covenant series. Fortunately, something possessed me to read the second book, and when I did I was delightfully surprised to find that other than one or two events *SPOILERS* (Alex breaking Lia's nose and Caleb dying) this book was one hundred and ten percent original gold. I fell in love with the series. Also , not so in love with Aiden any more but have surprisingly developed a liking for Seth. He has a sense of humour at least. Also I love the fact that he's constantly coming to Alex's rescue with a fireball of some sort. The scene from Seth's POV at the end was truly what made me fall for him. HE'S NOT ACTUALLY AN ASS! YAY! Team Seth can I hear a whoop whoop? I loved Alex a lot more in this novel which was strange because I never really like heroines in YA novels. She's so feisty and stands up for what she believes in, no matter what. It just makes her so loveable. I just wish she wasn't so hung up on Aiden because Seth is a waaayyy better choice for her. Unless he sucks her brains out when she becomes the Apollyon. Then he's a good choice for me :D
Dislikes: There wasn't really anything I disliked about this book except for the events mentioned in the bracket above. Yeah. I really liked it.
Verdict: Thanks Jen for such a kick-ass story! You really pulled me into this series with this book. Seth is now in my top five book boyfriends and you my dear, are still in my top three favourite authors. This book was wild so I'm gonna give it a 9/10.
Fave Quotes: (about Alex's rune) "'Yes it hasn't faded.' Seth leaned forward, catching my hand. 'Stop shaking it like it's a damn Etch-A-Sketch. That doesn't make them disappear."
"Seth threw me a mischievous grin. 'I can't have Marcus just walking in on us. What if I want to snuggle on these cold New York nights?'
My frown increased. 'We don't snuggle.'
He dropped his arm over my shoulder and the scent of mint and something wild tickled my nose. 'How about we cuddle?'
'We don't do that either.'
'But you're my cuddle bunny. My little Apollyon cuddle-' I punched him in the side."
Jen I know how much you love your Dean gifs. But seriously thanks for this book. It made my day. |
If you've read this book feel free to link your reviews in the comments :) Was writing my review and got distracted by Candy Crush. Anyone else addicted to that game??
Until next time x
