E-readers vs. Real Books (Pearl of Wisdom #3)
Okey doke, so todays ‘Pearl of Wisdom’ post is mainly
inspired by the fact that my Nook Simple Touch arrived this morning, earlier
than expected, YIPEE!! Lads, I’m addicted to it. Also I’m trying to come up
with a name for it so if you have any ideas drop ‘em down in the comments
please!
E-readers:
· Reading one-handed. ‘Nuff said. Well actually no, I can’t get over this. Eating whilst reading has always been a problem for me, not anymore! Reading and multi-tasking? Sure!
· Never ever search for a bookmark again or have to *SHUDDER* dog ear a page.
· Privacy. Read whatever you want without anyone ever knowing! Closet Twilight fan? Secretly want to read Justin Bieber’s autobiography? No-one will ever know!!
· Reading is so much comfier. I don’t know whether any of you get this but, whenever I’m reading lying on my side I find the book’s spine always digs painfully into my arm. Also bye-bye paper cuts. NOT ANYMORE! *Starts to laugh evilly* Moohahahahaha!
Real Books:
·
They smell good. What is better than a new book
smell?
· They look good. They’re physical, they look pretty (and impressive) on shelves.
· You can bring them relatively near water without the risk you’ll have to fork out 100 quid to buy a new should something happen to it.
· The batteries will never run out on a real book J
· Similarly no reading whilst charging.
· Real books are virtually indestructible. Or at least you can drop them without worrying you’ve broken it.
· I feel like I’m sucked into the world a little bit more with real books. Maybe it’s just my mind playing tricks on me…
· Physical copies can be autographed. I know you pro-e-reader people will say ‘Oh E-books can be autographed too!’ It’s not the same.

So in the end, I love them both. But if I am to ‘judge a
book by its cover’ (Which I would NEVER do!) I love owning physical books. I
love reading E-books and owning physical books so I’d have to say it’s a draw.
How ‘bout you guys? Love E-books? Wouldn’t touch an E-reader? Let me know, I
really am curious. Oh and also names! Help me name my Nook! Until next time x
Remeber kids, Dean loves reading no matter the format. Right Dean? |
