Wither - Lauren Destefano (Book Review)

Hey guys! So today's novel is a little different to the ones I usually read, but once I started it I became completely addicted! It's called 'Wither' and it's by Lauren Destefano. It's the first of a trilogy called the 'Chemical Garden' Trilogy. This novel is a gripping, breath-taking, dystopian ( Everything in the world has gone wrong in an attempt to create a perfect human race. I had to urban-dictionary this word!) thriller. Due to a 'botched' attempt to create the perfect human race, men now die at twenty five and women at twenty. Girls are kidnapped off the street and sold to to rich men in a 'desperate bid' to keep the human race alive.

This novel follows Rhine, who is one of those girls, kidnapped from her home town and sold to a rich twenty one year old with a dying twenty year old wife. Rhine is desperate to escape and enlists the help of Gabriel, a servant who she is secretly attracted to in her attempt for freedom. However there is more to worry about, Linden's cruel father gives her the creeps and she's afraid to know what goes on in the sinister depths of the basement.

I really enjoyed this novel and I really wasn't expecting to, so I'll give it an 8/10.
