Dark Visions - L. J. Smith
Okay so I haven't actually had a chance to read a whole book since yesterday so decided to review one of my all time favourite books. From the author of the Vampire Diaries, L. J. Smith, I give you Dark Visions!
Originally three books but now compiled into one, Dark Visions is officially one of my favourite books. It follows the story of Kaitlyn Fairchild who is 'cursed' with the ability to predict the future through her drawings. When a Science Corporation called the Zetes institute comes to her school and tells her that they want to do an experiment on the psychically gifted, she is reluctant to leave her hometown in Ohio for sunny California but eventually caves and moves to the Zetes institute with four other 'psychically gifted' people, Rob, Anna, Lewis and Gabriel. It's not long before the five of them realise there is something evil lurking beneath the Zetes friendly purple walls. What they don't realise is that they are about to embark on a journey which will change them for the rest of their lives.
I love this book so much that the pages on my copy are bible thin by now, I've read it so many times :) Although it's more of girl book, Smith changes between all five points of view making it accessible to guys as well. Yet some more paranormal, young adult fun-ness. Great read, defo worth checking out 10/10
Here's a sneak peek:
'You don't invite the local witch to parties. No matter how beautiful she is. That was the basic problem. I don't care, Kaitlyn thought, I don't need anyone. She was sitting in History class, listening to Marcy Huang and Pam Sasseen plan a party for that weekend. She couldn't help but hear them... There was this terrible longing in her. If they would only let her in - it wasn't as if she'd insist on being different, the most popular or the most admired girl at school. She'd settle for a place in the group which was securely her own.'
Well hope you do decide to give it a try! Until next time x
