Free Human Editor!

Hey Guys,
So as many of you may or may not know, I started university this year. I'm studying Computer Science. I'm not sure what to think to be honest, I like it, but I miss writing. It's all programming and maths and no lovely drawling essays. So here it is. A chance to have me as your little grammar Nazi angel on your shoulder. I want to edit things. Send me things! I may not have experience but I'll do it for free. Also I'm a critical, fresh reader so I spot things that people who edit as their job miss. So please, I'm asking you to help me build a portfolio of essays, paragraphs, articles and things I've corrected. I am not doing this for money. You can pay me if you really want because hey a student's got to eat but really I just want to try my hand at this and gain some experience. So please help me. :)

Thanks, ILY!

Why I hate Airports...

I hate airports. I always have and I always will. I never really had a reason before as to why I loathe them so much. Now I do. For me, airports are the absolute worst part of holidays and my most recent experience confirms this.

Flying Out:
Checked suitcase in, said nothing as I saw the weighing scales tip a kilo over the 20kg limit and held my breath in the hopes that they wouldn't charge me. They didn't *phew*. Moved on towards security which is my absolute favourite part of the airport! Not. Made sure I had no metals on me and put my bracelets in my bag instead of loose in the tray as I'd heard of people being robbed whilst waiting for their turn going through the metal detector. Walked through the metal detector, no beeps which meant no frisking today! Things are starting to look up. I wait anxiously as I watch my bag go through the scanner. I watch as the security guard pause the computer on my bag as he searches through its contents for drugs or bombs or whatever it is that they look for, after 20 scary seconds he unpauses the screen and looks at the next bag. Yes! I can continue with my holiday!

Me at duty free.
Next to wait for two hours in the most boring place on the planet. Duty Free. Greeeaaat. I peruse perfumes and whiskeys as we wait for our flight, whilst I contemplate playing pranks on other passengers to liven the place up. I look through the newsagents and tried to decide whether or not I was hungry enough to pay 2.10 for a small dairy milk, in the end I decided I'd see what the food was like on the plane. Now for the fun part, boarding! As a teenager, I always tend to get glared at by old people for no proper reason other than the fact that they think I might be a hooligan. Fair enough if I actually was, but I am a respectable young gal who reads and helps out with the community so there's no need for that! :D Anyway I had this absolutely lovely old lady who inspected my boarding card, checked my passport to make sure I was who I said I was and then ushered me on with not so much as a 'Have a nice flight!' Boy would she have been sorry if the flight had crashed or something.

Anyway the flying part itself is always a pleasant experience for me, or at least sometimes it is, oh wait it never is? No you're right it never really is. I had the luck of being seated in between my best friend who is a little bit of a nervous flyer (I noticed this when my hand was being crushed during take off) and this gentlemen next to me who's hands were shaking so badly he couldn't fasten his tray table up. I'm so glad I'm a good flyer as the two of them would have made me have a nervous break down otherwise. The rest of the flight passed without much to write about, the man on my right ordered a few beers and other than that it was a normal flight to my holiday destination. There wasn't even turbulence to give us a bit of excitement.

Disembarking the plane we were hit by the sauna like heat that was the Portuguese air, I'm excited as it's evening time and yet it's warm! This is going to be great! Whipped out my passport for the very sexy god in passport control who very kindly and sexily welcomed me to Portugal in a deep voice. I may have giggled. Collected my suitcase from baggage claim and proceeded to hop into our transfer to the hotel.

Now for the part that really gets my goat. My two friends and I are sitting in our apartment chatting about the flight and other girly things, it's 10:30 pm we haven't started unpacking but decide to grab pjs and toiletries and the like. I proceed to open my suitcase when I notice something very unusual. There is a small, black velvet parcel or bag shoved into my suitcase beside my toiletries bag. I gingerly pick it up by the corner and say 'Girls this isn't mine.' They immediately pale. I'm starting to feel nervous about its contents. 'What do you mean it isn't yours? Are you sure? It's not something that one of your sisters might have put in your bag?' one says. I shake my head furiously. I knew it wasn't mine. I don't possess anything velvet. That's when I spin it around and see what we thought was Arabic embroidered on the back. Now we're really starting to panic. What is it? Why would someone put it in my suitcase? Was it illegal? I decided to be either brave or stupid and unzip it to see what's inside. Inside there are a whole bunch of leather looking straps or belts and two small black lacquer boxes with more of the same language on them in gold. At this point the possibilities were endless but we were automatically jumping to the worst conclusions as three teenage girls do. These included bombs, drugs (it had a funny smell) and possible scenarios with tracking devices and playing a very real role in a movie like Taken. Knowing how strict the police force is over there we were terrified that we were going to be the next 'Peru Two' by accident.

Fortunately for us, we met with one of my friend's very sensible neighbours who were fascinated by the two boxes and suggested doing a Google image search of them. An iPad picture, and Google image search later we had found out that these were actually two Jewish prayer boxes and the writing was in fact Hebrew and not Arabic. I was still in shock even though we had found out that these boxes were nothing sinister. I felt so violated. Someone had been in my suitcase. Ugh. Someone had touched my stuff and put that bag in with it.

I always believe there is a lesson to be learned from every scare, so, here's what I learned; That I probably could have saved myself a lot of grief by being more culturally and religiously educated and that I will ALWAYS lock my suitcase firmly from now on. But I doubt I could ever have foreseen something like this happening. As an eighteen year old girl, I have to say it was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. How would you have reacted? What do you think I should do about this? I encourage you to share my story as a warning to your friends and familys. Learn from my mistakes. I know that nothing terrifying actually happened to me, but it could have been so much worse.

Until next time x

Haunted On Bourbon Street by Deanna Chase (Book Review)

Man it's been a while, but I did promise, so here I am. I'm back bitches. :D Enjoy.

Series: Jade Calhoun #1
Release Date: December 4th 2013
Pages: 262
Genres: Fantasy, Paranormal, Mystery, Damsel in distress.
Websites: Author Website Author Facebook Amazon(Com)(Free at time of review on Kindle!)  Amazon(UK) (Also free at time of review!)

Blurb: 'Jade loves her new apartment—until a ghost joins her in the shower.

When empath Jade Calhoun moves into an apartment above a strip bar on Bourbon Street, she expects life to get interesting. What she doesn’t count on is making friends with an exotic dancer, attracting a powerful spirit, and developing feelings for Kane, her sexy landlord.

Being an empath has never been easy on Jade’s relationships. It’s no wonder she keeps her gift a secret. But when the ghost moves from spooking Jade to terrorizing Pyper, the dancer, it’s up to Jade to use her unique ability to save her. Except she’ll need Kane’s help—and he’s betrayed her with a secret of his own—to do it. Can she find a way to trust him and herself before Pyper is lost?'

Plot: Hmm, not quite what I thought the book was about, but then again it is a difficult book to explain. I'll leave the plotline to you to figure out.

My idea of Kane.
Likes: I quite liked this book, first of all I liked the main male lead, Kane, phew, he even sounds hot. With a name like that you know you're in for a manly main character. Is it bad that I want Kane as a bodyguard? He just sounds like he'd make a good body guard. What I liked about this book is that I went looking for a human paranormal book with a female protaganist, which is exactly what I got, whilst a bit whiny and VERY damsel in distressy, you gotta love Jade in the end, she's had a tough oul time and yet she still sticks up for and fights for her friends. However sometimes it does feel like she's trying to be a very bad version of Sookie Stackhouse or something, but only sometimes, and it's probably just the empath thing.

Dislikes: Like I said, if you don't like when the female lead is doing the 'Damsel in distress' thing, you WILL NOT like this book. She faints A LOT. I liked it at the beginning, the whole idea of Kane being there for her, but it very quickly gets annoying. I kind of wish she was a teeny bit more badass.
Me after the, like, 6th time she faints.
Verdict: On my new verdict ratings I'm going to give the book 3.5 stars, I most likely will read the sequel but I don't plan on buying the paperback versions, it'll be either Nook or library for me ;) Oh and 18+ guys.

Fave Quotes:
“I just inherited a ghost dog.” Duke was in the back seat, his head hanging out the window.”

Very Bad Things by Ilsa Madden Mills (Book Review)

Series: Briarcrest Academy #1
Release Date: September 10th 2013
Pages: 325
Genres: Romance, New Adult, Contemporary.
Websites: Author Website Author Facebook Amazon(Com)  Amazon(UK)
Source: I received an ARC from the author(YUP ILSA HERSELF!!) in exchange for my honest review.

Blurb: 'Born into a life of privilege and secrets, Nora Blakely has everything any nineteen-year-old girl could desire. She's an accomplished pianist, a Texas beauty queen, and on her way to Princeton after high school. She's perfect.

Leaving behind her million-dollar mansion and Jimmy Choos, she becomes a girl hell-bent on pushing the limits with alcohol, drugs, and meaningless sex.

Then she meets her soulmate. But he doesn't want her.

When it comes to girls, twenty-five-year-old Leo Tate has one rule: never fall in love. His gym and his brother are all he cares about...until he meets Nora. He resists the pull of their attraction, hung up on their six year age difference.

As they struggle to stay away from each other, secrets will be revealed, tempers will flare, and hearts will be broken.

Welcome to Briarcrest Academy...where sometimes, the best things in life are Very Bad Things.'

Plot:  Something bad has happened to Nora Blakely. Because of that she's decided to be bad. Very Bad. Because what's the point in acting perfect when you know that you're broken inside? Then there's Leo. He's 6 years her senior, and knows he's no good for her. He doesn't want to be a part of her 'Very Bad Things List'. Yet he can't keep away from her. He may just be the one good thing in her world, if he didn't keep screwing up.

Likes: First of all, I finished this book, like, 24 hours after Ilsa sent it to me, and I gotta say that was Monday. IT HAS KILLED ME not to release this until today!! I loved the idea of a 'perfect' girl gone bad. And boy does that girl have her problems. I loved her relationship with Leo. It was intense, exciting and extremely well-written. They had their ups and downs. EXTREME ups and downs. I loved Leo and I wanted him to end with Nora from the start, so when he rejected Nora, my heart broke a little. Every time. I don't understand why they didn't just get together after, like, page one. I mean it was obvious that they were perfect for each other. Oh Leo. I also liked the idea of Sebastian and Mila getting together and them all having a cute dysfunctional family together :D Whilst I don't really feel the way Nora dealt with her problems was right, I think it was justifiable. But I hated how attention seeking it came off. I loved Nora. She's witty, beautiful, clever and obviously very hard-working. She is brave. On the outside she is perfect. I hated how she blamed herself for everything that had happened in her life, and don't even get me started on her mother. Ms Blakely is quite frankly a controlling b*tch with a questionable mental health. I feel someone should have locked this woman up by now. Seriously. At least Nora has a lovely aunt and a nice-ish father. I said 'ish' people. I still don't understand how he stayed with his wife after he found out. But I loved this book. It was just an awesome read that combined a beautiful young romance and steamy new adult book.

Dislikes: I disliked how everyone handled what had happened to her. The reason she carries knives. They all just kind of hugged her and said 'You'll be okay.' SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE MADE HER GO TO THE POLICE. The reason she didn't was because she didn't want to 'relive it over again' but sure that's what she did the whole book. I also wanted the book to last a lot longer. I love it so much that I wish I had appreciated it more when I was reading it and I should have read it slower.

Verdict: Oh my god, if you need a good book right now I suggest this one! Go out and get it, bring it home and be prepared to read it in the one sitting. What I don't advise is starting it five minutes before you are about to go to sleep and have school early the next day. Because let's face it. You aint gonna get no sleep. It's one of those books that just entices you to read JUST one more page... And then another... I extremely enjoyed it, it was beautiful, heart-breaking, well-written with interesting developments and just overall epic. I'm going to give it a full 10/10 and say I look forward to reading Ilsa Madden Mills's future works of literary genius.

To Kill a Warlock by H.P. Mallory (Book Review)

To Kill a Warlock by H.P. Mallory

Series: Dulcie O'Neil Series#1
Release Date:  January 1st 2010
Pages: 210
Genres: Paranormal, Romance, Urban Fantasy
Websites: Author Amazon(Com)  Amazon(UK)

Blurb: 'The murder of a dark arts warlock.
A shape-shifting, ravenous creature on the loose.
A devilishly handsome stranger sent to investigate.
Sometimes working law enforcement for the Netherworld is a real bitch.

Dulcie O’Neil is a fairy. And not the type to frolic in gardens. She’s a Regulator—a law-enforcement agent who monitors the creatures of the Netherworld to keep them from wreaking havoc in the mortal world.

When a warlock is murdered and Dulcie was the last person to see him alive, she must uncover the truth before she’s either deported back to the Netherworld, or she becomes the next victim.

Enter Knight Vander, a sinfully attractive investigator sent from the Netherworld to work the case with Dulcie.

Between battling her attraction to her self-appointed partner, keeping a sadomasochistic demon in check, and fending off the advances of a sexy and powerful vampire, Dulcie’s got her hands full.

As the body count increases, Dulcie finds herself battling dark magic, reconnoitering in S&M clubs and suffering the greatest of all betrayals.'

Plot:  Shockingly unique, I was sucked in after chapter one. Dulcie O'Neil is a fairy law enforcer, and no she doesn't have wings. And don't compare her to Tinkerbell. In this book she tries to solve the murders of a ravenous serial killer, with a little help from Knightly Vander(A Netherworld detective). Things suddenly go very wrong very quickly and Dulcie's betrayed by the one she trusted most.

Likes: OH MY GOD. That's all I can say. I haven't been sucked into a book series like this since I discovered True Blood (bad pun, I apologise). Whilst fans of True Blood will enjoy To Kill a Warlock, I think we can all agree that Mallory has created something a little bit better. Let's see I started To Kill a Warlock on Thursday, it's now Saturday and I'm half-way through Great Hexpectations(Book #3) and I have to say I am 100% hooked.

The main character Dulcie is a fairy(which is quite rare) regulator (even rarer as fairies are generally too materialistic) First off, I love Dulcie. I find her hilarious, brave and bad-ass. She's everything you could want for a Heroine. What I also love is that guys are throwing themselves at her left, right and centre and she's just like 'Sorry but I'm to busy being badass to be held back by you right now.' Yay girl-power!! Despite that we can tell she is beautiful by the way guys throw themselves at her, she has quite a low self image, all because of her ex-a**hole. So yeah, she's got baggage, but that just makes her stronger.

Then we've got the guys. First and fore mostly I would like to say I've been Team Knight since the beginning, and I refuse to change. Except maybe for Bram. MAYBE. Okay so we have Knightly Vander, Loki (don't ask me what that is! I'm picturing Thor's bro but better looking) detective from the Netherworld, snarky, bossy, funny and cocky. Tall, dark and handsome also. I love Knight, he has some of the best lines in the book, but there's something un-trustworthy about him. I don't trust him. I have a feeling he's got a background. Then we have Bram. Introduce le Sexy vampire. I love Bram, I really do, he puts Dulcie in the most awkward of positions which I find hilarious. He is also tall, dark and handsome. He also is in love with Dulcie but as I said she doesn't really care. Lastly we have Quillan. Dulcie's boss and best friend. But will it turn into something more? You'll have to see. He is also extremely good-looking. I gotta say, I'll have to take a trip to Splendor(where it's set) because with the exception of Trey(poor guy) the place seems to be dripping with beautiful boys. *Wipes drool*.

Dislikes: Can't say I found any faults with the book.

Verdict: Can't wait to read the rest of the series. I have to say I'm delighted to have found a new series to read :D I'm going to give it a 10/10 PS. The kindle version is currently FREE so go get it, I say!!
SO SO HAPPY.
